Our History

The Hazel L. Carpenter Adult Home, formerly known as the Old Ladies Home of Madison County, was founded in 1882 by representatives of area churches as a residence for elderly women. In 1915 it moved from the original wood frame structure on the corner of West and Stone Streets in Oneida, New York to the present handsome colonial red brick building on Oneida’s Main Street.

Operated by a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, the Hazel Carpenter Adult Home serves approximately 23 residents each year. Admission to the Hazel Carpenter Adult Home is not limited by gender or religious or cultural affiliation.
